It's amazing what $20 will get you these days. A DVD (with no bonus features), a book (paperback), two tickets to a movie (a matinee, if you're lucky). But how about a hotel room? Not possible, you say? Let me explain.
At noon (GMT) on October 1, the Leading Hotels of the World is celebrating its 80th birthday and—for 80 minutes only—will allow members to book a limited number of rooms for $19.28. That means you can book a room in a lavish hotel and still have 72 cents leftover to put towards airline luggage fees... or a stick of gum.
The hotels are located in a variety of different countries—from Estonia, to South Africa, to Thailand, to Brazil, to the U.K. My suggestion? Book the hotel, then buy the plane tickets. You must be a member in order to be eligible, so register on their site before Oct. 1.
