This week, we were fortunate to get a visit from our San Francisco-based book columnist Don George, whose monthly "Trip Lit" selections always inspire us. An award-winning travel writer, Don has edited the Chronicle's Travel section, launched Salon.com's Wanderlust, and was Lonely Planet's Global Travel Editor before joining us here at NG.
Don's latest review of A Guide to the Birds of East Africa is now up online, and we thought we'd take the chance while he's here to open him up to you and your questions. So submit them to us in the comments below, and we'll have Don get back to you early next week.

Out of the countless books you've read or edited, have you ever come across a book that has truly made you want to drop everything, pack your bags, and go there? (And if so, which one?)

Where have you traveled to that you were surprised that it was so naturally beautiful? Where were surprised that the people were so friendly? Where did you travel that you were surprised that it was so inexpensive?

Is there any place on the globe that you feel is lacking in quality trip lit? What place would you like to see better covered by the genre?
